As Underwriting Team Leader, you'll be responsible for:
Portfolio Monitoring and Performance
- Assist the UW Manager with ongoing portfolio assessment and pricing.
- Review broker performance and engage with the respective broker to cover growth, sustainability and relationships
- Develop and manage quality assurance program
Internal Development
- Develop specific projects that involve: Rating changes, Appetite review and extensions, New product initiatives, Competitor analysis ,Transport industry changes which impact our value proposition to the market and Process improvements
Broker Development
- Develop broker training modules
- Conduct selected broker meetings.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with claims for: Product development needs, Claims team training, Identify insureds policies which require underwriting assessment following claims experiences.
- Engage with key broker partners.
- Assist with promotion of product initiatives.
Strategic Projects
- Lead and Manage the delivery of Strategic projects in line with business requirements.
Team Leader
- Oversee team KPIs and assessment.
- Develop and Manage work-flow service charter.
- Develop and manage staff Development plans.
- Foster a culture of learning and expertise development.
About the successful applicant:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in underwriting, preferably in commercial transport insurance.
- In-depth understanding of the insurance industry with a focus on niche markets.
- Proven leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, coach, and develop teams.
- Ability to analyse portfolio performance and implement strategies to drive profitability.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the capability to engage with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Experience in project management and driving internal development initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes and drive innovation within the team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and data analysis.
- Applicant must have the required industry recognised qualification.
- Tertiary qualification desirable
