The Unit Manager Sustainable Organisation and Community is responsible for managing a high performing team that supports the community and the organisation in meeting their environmental goals.
The position oversees and supports the Sustainable Organisation and Community Unit to ensure the delivery of corporate strategy, policy and programs relating to environmental sustainability. This involves working closely with the Sustainable Environment Leadership team and diverse departments across the organisation to achieve Council-wide sustainability outcomes through all services and activities.
The position provides mentoring, leadership, and direct supervision to a highly effective team that covers corporate environmental sustainability, community-facing environmental education, and community capacity building.
The Unit Manager Sustainable Organisation and Community is required to build and maintain professional relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders, networks, educational institutions, interest groups and the broader community.
About you
You will have demonstrated experience and expertise in the environmental sector and be able to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of environmental strategy, policy, and action. You will have an understanding of a wide range of environmental topics, including sustainability, biodiversity, Landcare, household energy conservation, sustainable energy generation, water, waste and resource recovery.
You will have proven leadership experience and the ability to supervise, mentor, and develop your staff to achieve the objectives of the unit and the organisation.
You will be able to effectively liaise and build cooperative working relationship with a wide range of audiences to deliver best practice environmental outcomes whether internally or externally focused.
