GHD Design has a solid and increasing workload, and we are looking for a dedicated Urban Design Practice Leader, with a combination of strong leadership, commercial acumen, client relationship and technical ability.

GHD Design in Brisbane includes professionals ranging from graduates to Technical Directors with over 30 years’ experience. This is a new opportunity to lead our Urban Design Practice and join our highly skilled team where we are working on a growing number of exciting Urban Design projects within Queensland and across the globe, where we are responding to the unique challenges of communities. This position will collaborate with other passionate technical leaders to provide positive outcomes for a diverse range of high-profile clients in both traditional and emerging market sectors.

Working with an energetic and high performing team of Urban Design Technical Directors and Senior Practitioners from across the wider GHD business, this leadership position offers a variety of work and will see you:

• Being the Urban Design Practice Lead for multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, often of state and national importance, including emerging Bris2032 opportunities
• Facilitating the integration of Urban Design thinking, theory, and practice into multi-disciplinary projects, working closely with Project Managers, Architects and Design Leads
• Task-managing and being accountable for Urban Design related jobs in concert with Project Managers, Project Directors, Design Leads and Team Members as required on infrastructure and design projects
• Providing technical leadership and professional mentorship to developing Urban Design practitioners in Queensland and throughout the broader APAC business through our technical service lines
• Developing and enhancing client relationships, as well as bid-leader relationships, for strategic pursuits and proposals
• Representing GHD at industry events and in relevant professional networks
• Growing our strong local, state and national sustainability business by identifying opportunities and packaging GHD's services to meet client needs in the area of urban planning and design

What you will bring to the team

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Design, Landscape Architecture or related field industry knowledge and experience.
• Extensive experience in delivering Urban Design projects and an established industry and client network – in particular within Southeast Queensland
• Ability to develop business opportunities through establishing trusted client relationships and winning repeat work
• Demonstrated track record in team leadership, project management, and delivering the Urban Design and sustainability components of major projects.
