Our award-winning craft brewery hospitality venue is searching for an experienced Venue Manager to take the helm & continue our path to success. We want a leader who can set the bar high and embrace the Thorny Devil culture and reputation in a fun, energetic environment.
The role…
Lunches only, no breakfasts or nights!! Initially a part-time position with the option of progressing to a full-time, permanent position, you'll be responsible for delivering outstanding service & leadership, pivotal in the delivery of our first ever food & beverage offering, Wed – Sunday. You will work closely with ownership, Head Chef, Head Brewer & Marketing to further develop the Food & Beverage offering. We see opportunity in events, functions, weddings & more. Who is Thorny Devil?
Thorny Devil is an AIBA gold medal-winning, Mandurah-based brewery, making ‘devilishly good craft beer’ since 2010. We opened our own hospitality venue in December 2022 and proudly won the Australian Hotels Association Award for Best WA Boutique Brewery in 2023! Our venue features stunning open grassed areas, a vineyard & three unique indoor /outdoor dining spaces catering for up to 200.
Key Responsibilities:
- manage & be accountable for all areas of the venue operations & logistics
- maintain, track & forecast all financial aspects of the operation.
- work closely with the kitchen, to promote, market & establish the venue.
- identify market & business development opportunities & be capable of presenting this to stake holders for consideration, identifying cost controls & potential risks
- train & lead a team (you will have full autonomy on labour management), meeting all KPI’s & benchmarks
- A “Hands-on” operator, you will live & die by your own sword, leading by example, be cool under pressure & work to the highest level of integrity
- As the VM, you will be the face of the venue while upholding the culture of Thorny Devil and instilling it throughout your entire team
- Oversee the ongoing compliance needs of all WHS, Food Safety processes & legislations
Key Attributes/skills:
- Natural Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate, train & empower a team of diverse staff
- RSA, current Approved Managers Card
- Extensive knowledge of craft beer, wines of the region, local produce & food, barista training
- Pragmatic approach to problem solving and troubleshooting
- Strong communication and interpersonal management skills
- Genuine desire to build a restaurant from the ground up
- At least 2 years of senior management experience in a similar sized venue
- A cert IV or above in Business Admin, Hospitality or similar will be highly regarded
