Baiada are seeking to fill the position of Company Veterinarian at our Riverina Farms.
Key responsibilities: (but not limited to):
- Monitoring of flock health status (all classes of stock).
- Implementation of strategic and tactical prevention or when needed medication strategies.
- Evaluation and improvement of vaccination programs in consultation with the Manager and Assistant Manager, Technical Services.
- Evaluate and assist hatcheries with health and performance issues.
- Maintain professional relationships with company livestock customers.
- Travel to livestock sites will be necessary.
- Response to urgent situations on short notice when required.
- Routine monitoring of health in all livestock areas.
- Investigation of disease and poor performance occurrences in livestock and instigation of appropriate control measures.
- Monitoring of biosecurity and hygiene standards on farms, hatcheries and processing plants.
- Veterinary service to live bird customers (ISA and Cobb) as directed by the company veterinarian.
- Liaison with key suppliers (vaccine manufacturers, therapeutics suppliers, disinfectant manufacturers, etc).
Critical skills :
- Working knowledge of veterinary pathology and the ability to diagnos and evaluate poultry diseases.
- Ability to clinically assess and treat intensive units of poultry for health and welfare status including the use of S4 medications if necessary.
- Diagnosis of disease states, including appropriate action regarding the occurrence of notifiable or exotic diseases.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong in Microsoft programs and understanding of data management systems.
- Ability to work unsupervised to meet timelines.
- High attention to detail.
- \Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and an ability to work well within a passionate team.
- Degree of Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) registrable in New South Wales.
- A minimum of seven years of practical experience in the field of production animal medicine.
- Ability to hold australian drivers’ licence.
- Ability to hold fully accredited Australian veterinary license to practice medicine.
