This is a genuine mixed practice, where we provide comprehensive care across the full range of species. As well as the small animal component, we also serve large primary producers both dairy and beef, hobby farmers, amateur equine through to performance and racing stables across the Meander Valley and surrounds. 

This position is based at our main hospital in Deloraine, where we do all the routine work, but also the high end diagnostics and treatments including complicated orthopedics. Our busy equine department is both ambulatory but also enjoys using our newly completed equine surgical facility where routine and complicated surgeries are done on a regular basis. Our team performs everything from routine procedures through to complex surgery and emergency care. 

We’re looking for someone with exceptional administration and customer service skills to support our reception desk. No two days will be the same! Being part of this dedicated team, you will provide operational support to our vets, triage calls, book appointments and emergencies, process lab samples, take special orders, assist with accounts, and most importantly, form strong relationships with our clients. You’ll be supporting a dedicated team in a growing, privately owned practice that’s been active in the community for over 50 years. 

What’s required of you:

• Preferred (but not essential) have a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.  Alternatively experience in a Medical reception or a great working knowledge of animal farming and primary production gained from experience within the sheep, beef, dairy, or equine industry may be considered.
• Previous experience working on a busy veterinary reception desk would be highly regarded (but not essential).
• A friendly and happy disposition, whilst being able to empathize in what can be at times an emotionally challenging situation
• You are a great communicator who remains calm under pressure – particularly at times where you may need to triage emergency calls
• Ability to multi task and work productively in a high paced environment
• Can demonstrate excellent skill in administration and client care and have an excellent working knowledge of computer applications, ideally including Rx Works and Microsoft applications. 
• Highly organised, quick to learn and careful with the details and can plan ahead so there are no surprises
• Always looking to improve by challenging the status quo and thinking outside the square
