The VAD Medical Lead holds a leadership position within the Division of Cancer and Ambulatory Support (CAS). The VAD Medical Lead provides a key role to support the development and implementation of VAD across the CHS Network. This role will provide strategic leadership, direction, planning, operational and policy input to support CHS staff to deliver quality patient care and service delivery once VAD legislation commences in the ACT.

The VAD Medical Lead is responsible for leading, engaging with and training clinical colleagues on VAD, and supporting formal VAD service delivery once VAD legislation commences. You will provide Medical Leadership and clinical oversight of the implementation, governance and preparation for operationalising VAD across the CHS Network once VAD legislation commences in the ACT.

Note: This is a part-time temporary position available at 16 hours per week for a period of 6 months commencing April 2024 with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be sued to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. The full-time salary will be paid pro-rata.

Duties:

1.

Provide Medical Leadership and engage with clinical colleagues about VAD and act as a point of contact for Medical Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners within the CHS Network who may wish to undertake practitioner training to provide VAD in an appropriate and safe way in line with VAD legislation.

Development and implementation of appropriate policies and models of care contributing to key VAD implementation deliverables in line with VAD legislation,

• 

Standards of care / preventable harm,

• 

Clinical Governance elements,

• 

 Accreditation,

• 

Service Delivery, Service Planning.

2.

Lead, coordinate and work in partnership with multidisciplinary teams across the CHS Network to facilitate change management initiatives to achieve the key VAD implementation deliverables

3.

Work collaboratively with key implementation stakeholders, such as the ACT Health Directorate VAD Implementation Team, to provide support, education and training to medical practitioners Territory-wide, and providing input into operations critical to VAD implementation.

4.

Education and ongoing support to clinical colleagues to ensure high level of understanding of VAD, and supporting CHS staff completion of VAD mandatory training.

5.

Complete the VAD mandatory training and other professional developed required for responsible VAD practice, thereby continuing to provide expert VAD advice to clinical colleagues.

6.

Develop effective partnerships with internal stakeholders, referring health services and consumer interest groups

7.

Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
