The St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc. is a major international charitable and voluntary organisation that has been operating in South Australia since 1884. Our principal role is to provide for, or alleviate, the needs of disadvantaged people in the community.
The Volunteer Development Coordinator – Retail Shops, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing strategies to attract, retain, and recognise volunteers within Vinnies Retail Shops. Your leadership and dedication will directly contribute to the achievement of our organisational objectives and mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement a comprehensive volunteer attraction, retention, and recognition program for Vinnies Retail Shops. This program should demonstrate leadership, positively promote volunteer work, and directly contribute to achieving organisational objectives and mission.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, guidelines, and business expectations, including meeting the National Standards for Volunteering. Continuously improve systems, processes, and policies to enhance volunteer effectiveness within Vinnies Retail Shops, fostering an environment that upholds best practices and promotes volunteer satisfaction.
- Identify training needs and develop training solutions to ensure retail shop volunteers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Act as a catalyst for greater organisational cohesion by liaising with volunteer coordinators in other programs and relevant stakeholders on important and sometimes complex issues.
Qualifications and Skills
We are looking for a highly empathetic and compassionate individual with tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in recruitment, development, and retention roles, ideally within a volunteer program coordination capacity.
Experience working in a membership-based organisation to support and empower members and volunteers is highly desirable. Membership and affiliation with Human Resources and/or volunteering peak bodies would be advantageous.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build positive relationships with volunteers, staff, and stakeholders. They should also demonstrate strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
This role requires regular regional travel across South Australia, flexible working hours, including evenings and after-hours, and a current Class C Driver's License. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory National Police Checks, performance appraisals, and employment health checks.
