Reports to: Supervisor Waste & Landfill

Salary Range:$965 - $1,101 per 38 hour week + penalty loading for weekend work, superannuation and RDO every 4 weeks

The Position

The Baradine/Binnaway Transfer Station Officer is responsible for opening and supervising public use of the Baradine and Binnaway Transfer Stations during the designated opening hours. When not supervising at Baradine and Binnaway Transfer Stations, the position will be sorting recycling at the Coonabarabran Material Handling Facility. This position will work Saturday - Sunday and Tuesday - Thursday each week.

Essential Requirements

  • Commitment to Council’s Mission, Values and Code of Conduct
  • Understanding of work health and safety (WHS) in the workplace and commitment to a positive contribution to WHS in the workplace and compliance with Council and legislative requirements
  • Current Class C driver’s licence
  • Sound oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate different small plant and equipment
  • Experience in cash taking and reconciliation
  • Occupational Health and Safety Construction Induction Certificate (“whitecard”)
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills required to:
    • Communicate effectively with members of the public,
    • Complete risk assessments and timesheets

Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge of Recycle Centre operations
  • Knowledge of Council schedule of fees
  • Knowledge of waste management recycling principles
  • Demonstrated experience in handling difficult customers and conflict resolution
