Your New Role:
KSC is seeking a dedicated Waste Manager to join our Utilities team and lead the development and implementation of sustainable waste management strategies for our Shire. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee the Shire’s daily waste operations and to be involved in waste projects, including the expansion of Council’s waste facilities. The Waste Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing waste collection, recycling programs, landfill operations, and community education initiatives – and presents a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on environmental sustainability and community wellbeing.
Reporting to the Director Utilities, the Waste Manager is responsible for EPA compliance and reporting, ensuring all waste facilities are operating in an efficient, safe and compliant manner, as well as meeting the strategic waste objectives of Council.
As a leader, the Waste Manager is responsible for continuing to foster our positive team culture by building strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders and supporting the team to deliver high quality services and outputs.
Key Accountabilities Include:
- Coordinate waste, recycling, landfill and service operations and associated waste capital works projects including the planning and delivery of expansion and/or new service provisions.
- Develop and implement future programs in waste, recycling and resource recovery operations.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of Council’s landfills.
- Monitor the progress of landfill cell development and strategic planning actions.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will possess tertiary qualifications in engineering, environmental management (or a related discipline) and/or extensive work experience relevant to the role. Significant recent experience within the waste management industry with demonstrated experience in waste management systems, project management and team management will be highly regarded.
Previous experience in landfill cell design and construction, developing and implementing new waste management systems and overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of multiple waste facilities in accordance with NSW EPA requirements is a must for this role.
