Overview
Looking for a Waste Officer – Infrastructure Sustainability with highly developed Contract Management skills for an exciting 12-month contract starting on 3 July 2023. Located in Sydney CBD and surrounds, 35 hours per week $362.50 per day plus super.
Primary Purpose of the Position
To drive operational efficiency in waste services at City buildings by identifying improvement opportunities and effectively engaging stakeholders involved. Implementation of recycling initiatives that will contribute towards achieving our operational waste goals and improve overall sustainability outcomes. Working with project teams in COO to report on waste performance and tracking against targets.
Key accountabilities
- Waste contract management - Manage day to day waste operation activities and requests, contract management, waste audits and SLM tracking. Respond to requests through effective stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
- Reporting – Assist in accurate and timely reporting on City’s waste operation targets by working with stakeholders within and across divisions.
- Process improvement – Identify process improvement opportunities and work with stakeholders to increase efficiency in processes.
- Recycling initiatives – Identify and implement recycling initiatives that will assist in meeting operational targets and improve overall sustainability outcomes.
- Working with multiple stakeholders and communicating effectively to resolve issues.
- Ensuring delivery of great results within a fast-paced environment.
Decision making
- The position holder will be able to exercise a degree of autonomy in the day-to- day management of the operational waste contract.
- The position is accountable for decisions regarding the day-to-day work program for themselves and any contractors and for the provision of advice to team members, customers and relevant stakeholders on related programs, services and activities.
- Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, environmental management, or related field and extensive demonstrated relevant knowledge and experience.
- Highly developed contract management skills and demonstrated experience in delivering sustainability projects within time and budget that achieved measurable results.
- Highly developed oral and written communication and ability to liaise, negotiate and effectively resolve conflicts and reconcile competing interests. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and strength of character to deal effectively with difficult stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in working with sustainability platforms will be well received.
