The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Water Operations Trainee with host Origin Energy.
The role is based within the water treatment plant at Darling Downs Power Station, a gas-fired combined cycle power plant built by Origin Energy and in operation since 2009.
This is an identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander role.
Job DetailsAs a Water Treatment Trainee, you will be working within a small tight knit team where you will be mentored on a Monday to Friday roster from 7.30am to 3.30pm.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Assisting with coordination of the site Hazardous Materials, SDS register, and dangerous goods register for the Power Station
- Assisting with the coordination of environmental monitoring and reporting
- Contributing to the preparation and implementation of planned and unplanned maintenance and operational activities
- Looking after the readiness of chemical stocks as well as daily and long-term chemistry control
- Assisting in the safe, cost-effective, and reliable performance and operation of Water Treatment Plant and Cycle Chemistry by reviewing and monitoring chemical control parameters, and optimising plant and process conditions
- Troubleshooting and diagnosis of production upsets and issues
- Assisting with plant operations in various forms
- Ensuring the care and preventative maintenance of the laboratory and field equipment is paramount
In this traineeship, you will work towards the completion of a NWP30222 Certificate III in Water Industry Treatment over 2 years.

We're seeking a motivated, hard working individual who is a team player dedicated to building a career in the industry.
Applicants who have an interest in chemistry or enjoyed chemistry at school, or have some relevant work experience will be highly regarded.
You will need a car licence (P Plate Minimum) and a good, reliable vehicle. You will need to get yourself to site on a daily basis, and ideally live in the Darling Downs region.
