SHIPAUS is seeking EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST from suitable individuals who are experienced in Port Services, and possess a CAN DO ATTITUDE for our operation in Queensland.
About The Role (North East Coast Operations)
(Primary Duties) Gladstone based;
- Work from home and company workshop as required;
- Responsible for all equipment management and maintenance;
- Responsible for all road transport, deliveries and redeliveries using SHIPAUS vehicles or by use of third party transport providers;
- Maintain spare parts stock control and equipment inventories for all SHIPAUS NORTH EAST COAST equipment;
- Provide online and/or URGENT onsite support to other Australian Operations, as required.
Project Specific Roles
(Secondary Duties) All Australian Ports as required;
- Attend Hold Cleaning Projects in other states if/when required.
- Lead/participate on board ships in support of our Hold Cleaning Gangs as required; acting in the Marine Supervisor or Foreman's role (based on experience and qualifications).
- Hands “on” operation of all SHIPAUS equipment and carry out hold cleaning duties alongside fellow workers.
- You must be able to complete a (12) hour day shift.
- You must be able to commit to (3-14) days working away from home.
- Remuneration will be paid in addition to the base salary during projects.
Please note, this is a heavy manual labour based role involving climbing, lifting, pushing, stretching and working at heights, reminding applicants that a good level of physical fitness is required.
The successful applicant;

- Must have the ability and experience to lead a small team of personnel with project specific training provided;
- Will be required to work unsupervised and will complete tasks as directed in a timely manner;
- Must have previous experience in a similar role.
Reporting
North East Coast Operations will work in coordination with both South Coast Operations and West Coast Operations personnel that are based in other Australian states whilst reporting directly to the Managing Director.
North East Coast Operations will be responsible for executing and delivering the following key factors;
- Ensuring that all shipping schedules are met with a sense of urgency by prioritizing all SHIPAUS nominated ships with SHIPAUS priority equipment and personnel if required;
- Ensuring each ship is serviced ‘on time every time’ with NO DELAY to any Australian Port Authority or our clients;
- Maintaining a high degree of professional appearance and conduct within the work place;
- Promoting SHIPAUS values;
- Adhering to and maintaining our ISM Safety Management System and Company Policies;
- Assisting with internal and external audits and reviews of our systems;
- Ensuring the safety of all personnel, sub-contractors and visitors who visit our facilities on shore or our clients ships alongside the berth and/or at sea;
- Commit to reducing any impact on the environment;
- Attend each ship alongside the berth in all Queensland ports, or at anchor within port limits by launch, on an as required basis;
- Liaise directly with the Ships Agent, Captain and associated project parties, as required;
- Execute all Australian Border Force documentation;
- Execute hourly machinery service requirements and preventative maintenance relating to SHIPAUS plant and equipment;
- Overall preventative maintenance of company vehicles;
- Ensuring our equipment is TURN KEY at all times;

The Applicant Shall
Possess a strong background in either/or,
- Ships Agency;
- Ships Operations;
- Port Operations/Stevedoring;
- Domestic/Commercial Marine Services
With proven experience regarding various types of ships husbandry including but not limited to; removal of ships washings, provision of technical equipment, stevedoring, hold cleaning, road transport and crane operations.
- Have a basic understanding of DC electrical and small engines;
- Have an eye for detail and know the importance of good housekeeping;
- Provide evidence of at least 5 years previous experience in a similar role supporting international shipping;
- Be highly motivated, show initiative, demonstrate problem solving skills whilst being able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks;
- Basic MS office skills in Outlook, Word and Excel;
- Demonstrate clear and concise communication skills;
- Be at ease working in a team environment;
- Be a leader who treats his/her fellow employees with equal respect.
Travel (Outside Gladstone);

Minimum Criteria;
- Current Driver’s license (MR preferred)
- First Aid
- Must be a resident of Gladstone
Essential Criteria;
- Persons that live in close proximity to the Port of Gladstone
- Basic Dogman and/or Rigger
- CV and/or CN Crane Operator
- Elevated Work Platform Operator 11m+ (Working at Heights/High Risk)
- Forklift Operator
- Fit for work medical certificate, AMSA medical preferred
- Flexibility at short notice to travel to other ports within QLD
- Flexibility at days’ notice to fly to other ports in Australia, if required
- Must be able to work in a dirty, dusty, wet environment whilst wearing the appropriate PPE
- Must be prepared to operate EWP’s, high pressure cleaners, rust removal equipment and associated general cleaning equipment.
- Ability to obtain the Federal Governments Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) at own expense
- Port Pass, valid
Desired Criteria:
- Commercial Marine Qualification
- Trade Certificate with an electrical or mechanical background
