Permanent Full Time - 36.25 hours per week 

$98,246.92 to $104,849.12  Annually  + up to 12% super

Your opportunity

Are you a skilled engineer with a passion for designing critical infrastructure that serves our community? Redland City Council is seeking an experienced Water & Wastewater Engineer to join our Design Services Team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of high-quality civil engineering designs that meet regulatory and customer expectations.

Guided by our Values, you will:

  • Lead and Develop Designs: Under limited direction, lead, plan, coordinate, develop, and deliver designs, estimates, planning layouts, and specifications for diverse and complex engineering projects. Ensure solutions are accurate, safe, cost-effective, and meet service delivery standards.
  • Project Management: Take a lead role in resolving complex multi-disciplinary engineering project design issues, completing projects within specified deadlines and projected costs. Implement solutions to improve performance.
  • Technical Advice: Provide expert technical or project-specific advice to team members, other areas of Council, external contractors, and construction supervisors. Incorporate relevant standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Offer leadership, specialist advice, mentoring, and training to assist team members in developing their design, technical, and project management skills.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Negotiate and liaise with project stakeholders, internal and external clients, and contractors to encourage best practice design techniques and promote an integrated approach to designs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Initiate, implement, review, and develop design processes, procedures, and reports to assist in the efficient and accurate delivery of engineering projects.

  • Technical Expertise: Extensive achievement in developing and delivering plans, estimates, calculations, and planning layout solutions for complex civil engineering projects. Experience with a multi-disciplinary approach to design development across civil, mechanical, structural, and electrical drawing preparation.
  • Software Proficiency: Extensive experience using AutoCAD and design software packages such as 12D, Civil 3D, PC Drain, and Microsoft Office.
  • Time Management: Highly developed time management skills with a proven track record in meeting project objectives and deadlines.
  • Teamwork: Highly developed team member attributes and teamwork skills, with experience in providing quality support and guidance to other staff.
  • Communication Skills: Highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills, with a proven record of providing excellent customer service in communicating technical issues to a diverse range of clients.

Eligibility

  • You'll hold an associate Degree in Engineering or equivalent
