Job description

  • Temporary up to 12 months
  • Full time 35 hours per week (working Tuesday to Saturday)

  • Clerk Grade 3/4
  • Total Remuneration Package up to $93,182
  • Salary range ($75,992 to $83,211) + weekend penalties
Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney’s The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land – the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. The Gallery attracts around 1.4 million visitors annually and runs Australia’s largest education program with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.

With the construction of our expansion project currently underway and scheduled for completion in 2022, the Gallery is poised to deliver a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building. Providing us with close to double the current exhibition space, the expanded Gallery will enable us to share more art with more people and provide more family, learning and educational programming for all our audiences.

About the Role

Responsible for the majority of wedding and social event sales at the Gallery. Responds to enquiries, prepares quotes, conducts site inspections and is the main planning and event day contact for these events.

What technical / soft skills you require * Some experience in an event sales environment with an enthusiasm and willingness to learn and develop
  • Well-developed MS Office skills and an understanding of event service technology including Audio Visual.
  • Strong time management and prioritising skills with strong communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • RSA certificate
  • Ability to work Tuesday to Saturday roster and evenings as required.
Targeted questions * Describe a time when you’ve had to resolve a difficult conflict with an client? Explain the situation that occurred and the actions you took in order to achieve a positive outcome for you and the client? (400 word limit)
  • Describe your process for handling multiple events at the same time. How do you prioritise your time and resources? (400 word limit)
Part of the assessment process may include additional online capability testing, skills testing or work samples in accordance with the new Government Sector Employment Act 2013, therefore you may be contacted to participate.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake a National Police Records Check, refer to link;
