The Cleary Bros Group is a privately-owned business based principally in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions. The Quarries Division currently operates on 2 sites focused on delivering quality products to the construction industry. Cleary Bros take our environmental responsibilities very seriously and work to meet and exceed our obligations accordingly.
The Gerroa Sand Mine operates adjacent to coastal bushland. We are seeking an experienced environmental Weed Controller to join the small Gerroa team to support our efforts to control weeds on and around this beautiful location. This part time role is 24+ hours per week and flexible to suit the right applicant. There will be some requirements to attend to weed control measures at other Cleary Bros sites in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region.
There may also be the opportunity to extend your skills in operating plant and equipment on site.
Qualifications & experience
- Experience/Interest in identification of vegetation species both native and weeds
- Experience in a similar role of controlling weeds across a large area
- Qualified in weed control including AQF 3 Chemical Accreditation Program courses
- Prepare and Apply Chemicals
- Transport, Handle and Store Chemicals
- Experienced with spray equipment, whipper-snippers and mowers
- White card and driver licence
- Able to work unsupervised and as part of a small team
- Will consider full time employment for the right candidate
Tasks & responsibilities
- Mixing chemical in accordance with specifications for the task
- Storing chemicals in compliance with regulations
- Identifying weeds and using appropriate weed control applications
- Chemical spraying, pulling weeds and clearing debris across a large native and landscaped footprint
- General upkeep of grounds
- Operate equipment and machinery in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations
- Perform duties in accordance with safety and environmental policies and procedures.
