Job description

Mamamia is on the lookout for a Weekend Editor role title to join our best-in-class Editorial team.

But first, here's a bit about us.

Mamamia is Australia's largest women's media company.

Our core purpose is to make the world a better place for women and girls. That's what guides everything we do. And, uh, we do a lot. Mamamia reaches seven million women each month across our written, video, audio, and social platforms and we have the largest women's podcast network in the world.

What we're looking for.

As our Weekend Editor, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our content direction during shifts and across the weekend. You'll lead the charge in managing and preparing our Sunday content lineup, ensuring timely publication and alignment with our brand's tone and guidelines.

Here's some of the stuff you can expect to be doing if you join us:

  • Manage and prepare Sunday content lineup, ensuring team adherence to deadlines and editing for alignment with MM tone and guidelines.
  • Publish and oversee Sunday site operations, including distribution of pre-prepped content and assignment of stories to Content Producer.
  • Maintain content calendars, staying updated on major events and shows, providing planning and direction during assigned shifts.
  • Collaborate with the Editor to ensure content aligns with editorial guidelines, voice, and tone; brief and assign tasks to the afternoon team.
  • Review and edit articles for grammar, clarity, accuracy, and style, ensuring highest editorial standards before publication.
  • Manage direct reports, offering guidance, feedback, and mentorship; coordinate workflow and oversee deadlines.
  • Contribute to content ideation and pitch meetings, staying informed on industry trends and breaking news for informed planning.
  • Work with social and Podcast teams for cohesive content presentation; analyse article performance metrics for future strategy optimization.

Now, a bit about you.

  • A team player who takes ownership of responsibilities, communicates effectively and gives and receives feedback with honesty, respect, curiosity, and openness.
  • Ability to prioritise the needs and perspectives of our audience and commercial partners in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt a measured approach and drive process improvement initiatives and solve problems creatively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates a positive and proactive attitude towards work, possessing a PMA (Positive Mental Attitude)

Life at Mamamia.

We're fast-paced, innovative, and deeply collaborative. Mamamia feels small enough that you can create real and tangible change, but has the structure to support your ideas with experienced and industry-leading teams, and deliver them to an audience of millions of women every month.

We have a startup spirit within a scaled-up business structure and we're incredibly proud of the culture and community we've created. Our team is inclusive, passionate, and fun (..although apparently, not very modest about it); many lifelong friendships and connections have been forged in Mamamia HQ.

But enough about us, let's talk about how we can help you. At Mamamia, we want to support all of our staff in kicking as many career goals as possible so that's why we'll support you in getting involved in the things you're actually interested in. Think you might want to broaden your scope? Get exposure to another team in the business? Try something new and develop your skills? We'll help you make it happen and cheer you on the whole way.

On top of all that, Mamamia also offers:

  • Flexible working conditions
  • The opportunity to celebrate your birthday and ongoing dedication with additional leave days
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid volunteer leave to get involved with our charity partners
  • The opportunity to work for a purpose-driven company and help us make the world a better place for women and girls.

One more thing!

Mamamia is an equal opportunity employer, all applicants will be considered regardless of your race, sexuality, religion, colour, gender identity, or parental status. We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply. If you require any assistance, including a workplace adjustment to participate in the recruitment process please reach out to **@mamamia.com.au.
