Our Organisation

Cyrenian House is a leading not-for-profit non-government organisation that has been operating within the alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment sector since 1981. Cyrenian House provides a wide range of high-quality treatment services that make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by alcohol and other drugs. Cyrenian House provided services to approximately 5000 people in 2020, and we employ over 200 staff across our eight main service locations.

About the Role
The Welfare Worker is based at our Munda Mia site in Kallamunda. The Welfare Worker will work with adult residents and children within the MMTC program to provide, culturally appropriate support and welfare advocacy for their welfare needs.
The role will also provide support for residents to fully participate in the Therapeutic Community.

The successful candidate will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in health and/or social welfare  equivalent.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of Client Welfare and Advocacy work and Alcohol and  issues.
  • Understanding of advocacy for vulnerable women and families, including knowledge of child development.
  • Sound skills in communicating with and responding to women and families and in maintaining boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Problem solving and intervention skills with the ability to identify and assess resident needs.
  • Well-developed self-management skills to cope with difficult cases, and manage stress.
  • Willingness and ability to work within the philosophy and culture of the Therapeutic Community model.
  • National Police Clearance, Working with Children card, Drivers Licence, and full work rights.
