Job description

Are you ready to embark on an extraordinary journey as a Wellbeing Leader? We're seeking a vibrant and dedicated individual to establish and lead our team of wellbeing specialists and youth workers in creating a nurturing environment for our students. If you're passionate about fostering resilience, promoting wellbeing, and making a positive impact, this role is tailor-made for you!

What's the opportunity?

As our Wellbeing Leader, you'll be the superhero of support, leading the charge in creating a happy and thriving school environment! From developing classroom programs to organising epic group activities, you'll be the heart and soul of our wellbeing mission. Get ready to build bridges, make friends, and bring positive vibes to students, all while being the go-to hero for the school community.

Who on earth are we?

Y Whittlesea is a not-for-profit that happens to be part of the oldest youth organisation in the world and oldest social enterprise where all profits go back into our communities. The Y School is a fresh initiative, crafting a safe and inclusive learning environment for young people aged 15-20 who may have faced disengagement from education. We're all about providing support, services, and programs to empower individuals to achieve their goals and lead dignified lives. Be a part of something bigger!

What do we hope you'll bring?

  • Legal right to live and work in Australia.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or equivalent.
  • VIT Registration (preferred) or Current Employee Working with Children Check.
  • Police Check (International if you have lived outside Australia in the last 5 years)
  • Current First Aid & CPR
  • Extensive leadership experience in supporting vulnerable young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of young people
  • High level of time management and organisational skills
  • Oh, and here's another one. We trust you. We also care about you. In return, you'll bring an innate work ethic, respect and care for others, and consistent integrity to all that you do.

Why should I want to be a Y Community SchoolWellbeing Leader?

Real purpose, passion and impact: at Y Whittlesea you will embark on a rewarding journey where you can make a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable and disengaged young people. Build a team and contribute to a culture of genuine care and support for some of our most vulnerable young people. All this whilst also knowing that you are part of something bigger: Disability services, Community Schools and much more where all surpluses go back into our communities. Enjoy a flexible workplace, a free gym membership, ongoing professional development opportunities, and competitive rates including salary packaging benefits to increase your take home pay.

Why might the Y not be right for me?

We rarely do ridiculous hours, but we do work very hard, every day.

You'll need to be highly organised, self-motivated and used to working as a team.

You'll need to lead people, be able to think and plan strategically, and network extensively.

We value feedback highly, and will expect you to speak up, ask questions and share knowledge and we will do the same.

Ok, I'm in. How do I apply and stand out?

If you're excited to explore this opportunity, make it count! Submit your resume, answer a few questions on our application form, and, if possible, send us a cover letter highlighting your greatness. Click the "Apply Now" button to submit your application.
