Design Matters National (DMN) is the peak body working to represent, and enhance the profile and performance of building designers, energy assessors, and other built environment professionals in Australia. Design Matters National:

• Provides members with information, collaboration and educational opportunities to promote excellence in their design work and business practices

• Partners with industry leaders, and advocates to government and statutory bodies about things that matter to DMN members, and 

• Believes sustainability, quality, and innovation are essential to advance a better-designed built environment in future Australia. 

We are seeking a person to coordinate the DMN operations in Western Australia (WA), develop relationships with local stakeholders in order to extend DMN's influence and interests, and achieve DMN's strategic goals in WA. 

This role is for two days per week (0.4 FTE).

The role requires working from home. 

The salary is $85,000 - $100,000 pro rata, plus superannuation.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with local key stakeholders, including government representatives, regarding DMN matters 
  • Providing administrative support to the WA DMN Working Group in our advocacy campaigns
  • Liaising with and securing local sponsors, working closely with the National Membership & Sponsorship Coordinator based in Melbourne at DMN's headquarters
  • Handling local member and potential-member queries, ensuring a timely response, and escalating queries to other team members when necessary
  • Co-ordinating local DMN events, in conjunction with the National Events Coordinator based in Melbourne at DMN's headquarters
  • Co-ordinating the local West Coast Building Design Awards program, in conjunction with the National Events Coordinator
  • Assisting with project work, as directed by the CEO, based in Melbourne at DMN's headquarters.

  • Extensive experience in stakeholder relationship management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including a professional, confident telephone manner, with the ability to negotiate and influence and strong diplomacy skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Exceptional skills in office administration and in the use of technology to support effective business processes.
  • Experience using MS Office suite of software essential.
  • Proficiency in information and communications technology, including Customer Relationship Management databases.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (desirable).
  • Driver’s license and vehicle (desirable).

Key attributes we are seeking:

Highly Skilled in Stakeholder Management: You will be critical to the success of DMN's advocacy work in WA via organising, monitoring and improving DMN's relationships with local stakeholders. Your role will include systematically identifying stakeholders; analysing their needs and expectations; and planning and implementing various tasks to engage with them to achieve DMN's goals. 

Independent and Focused: You will be an organised and active team player; you are self-motivated; can work autonomously and remain focused on assigned tasks; can take ownership of responsibilities and proactively seek solutions without constant supervision.

Strong Work Ethic with Integrity: You will understand the importance of delivering high-quality work consistently; you will be committed to meeting deadlines, providing excellent service levels, and upholding the organisation’s values and standards. 

Task-Oriented: You will excel at handling multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritising them effectively; have a keen eye for detail and be able to juggle many different membership operations, while ensuring that nothing falls through the cracks.

Willingness to Seek Help: You will be independent, yet also recognise the value of collaboration; not afraid to ask for assistance when needed; and maintain the DMN brand and voice.
