Our client provides their services across a number of industry sectors such as building construction, industrial, mining and resources, transport infrastructure, environmental etc. and you will be responsible for contributing to the successful delivery of a number of challenging projects.
Types of projects include earthworks, demolition, decommissioning, excavation, retention, piling, foundations, ground improvement, soft and hard landscaping, site remediation and rehabilitation etc. Typical values from smaller up to $40m+.
As WHS Advisor, you will be involved in ensuring the highest standards of health and safety management are carried out across all construction sites. Candidates can come from a Health and Safety Officer, Advisor or Manager background. We would also look at a more junior candidate looking to step up into the role.
This role will be based in the Hunter Region and will likely be a mix of being based on major projects as well as in the office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- At each stage of the projects, assist in identifying and managing high risk activities
- Liaise with design teams and contractors in forward planning for safety and coordination of work activities
- Carry out independent health and safety audits on all aspects of construction management
- Plan, develop and implement reporting and communication structures to enable accurate assessment and evaluation of health and safety management performance
- Assessment of accident, incident and near miss reporting, evaluating findings and monitoring implementation of any corrective / preventative measures
- Attend planning and coordination reviews for day to day and long term safety planning of work activities
- Ideally a Diploma in Health & Safety or a Cert IV
- 3 to 10+ years’ experience with background in working in construction health & safety
- Ability to thrive in high pressure, fast paced environment
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Environment and Quality work may form part of the role too, people with titles such as HSE and HSEQ are also relevant.
- High level of organisation and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
