About the opportunity
The WHS Manager reports to the National WHS Manager and is part of the NEX Group People, Safety and Culture team. Your focus will be to implement and manage all aspects of the NEX Building Group WHS Management Systems for Wilson Homes. More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Working with management, employees, and our contractors to ensure a safe work environment across all operations, including our offices, and construction sites
- Implementing and managing risk registers, incident, injury, and near-miss registers, WHS management plans, and any other relevant, tools, processes, and other safety mechanisms
- Providing induction and training on all aspects of WHS requirements, ensuring all management, employees and contractors are aware of their legal, regulatory and company responsibilities
- Being the key WHS contact within the NEX Building Group Wilson Homes operations, ensuring communication of WHS matters to management, staff and contractors as required
- Undertaking both ad-hoc and scheduled site inspections and systems audits to ensure WHS compliance with procedures, and where required working with management, employees, and contractors to ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented
- Ensuring comprehensive records are maintained, including documentation of all WHS statutory requirements
- Liaising with regulatory bodies and professional organisations in relation to WHS matters
- Assisting with the management of workers compensation claims and the co-ordination of return-to-work activities
About you
To be successful in this highly rewarding role you will demonstrate alignment to the purpose and core values of Wilson Homes and NEX Building Group along with:
- Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar WHS leadership role
- Exposure to Residential Construction or allied industry
- Knowledge of WHS legislation, relevant codes of practice, relevant safety standards and guides
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using construction and contractor management software systems (OnSite Companion (OSC) would be an advantage)
- Competent in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
