WHS Specialist - Hybrid Role (Kurnell, NSW)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated **WHS Specialist** to join our client's team on a 12-month contract with a high potential for extension. This role is based in Kurnell, NSW, offering a hybrid working model and on-site parking.
As a WHS Specialist, you will be the cornerstone of our Contractor Workforce, providing expert advice and support to line leaders on health, safety, and wellbeing strategies. Your role will be pivotal in developing and coordinating projects and programs to enhance our WHS performance and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update procedures for our Construction Safety Management Plan.
- Audit contractor safety systems and plans.
- Support local emergency response initiatives.
- Guide incident investigations and corrective action plans.
- Conduct safety inspections and audits, spending 50% of your time in the field.
- Report safety performance to the leadership team.
- Lead Operational Excellence meetings to address health, safety, environmental, and risk issues.
- Provide coaching on incident investigation and Loss Prevention System (LPS) protocols.
- Monitor and report on incident investigation and safety observation tool usage.
- Facilitate LPS Training and ensure compliance with training standards.
Essential Qualifications
- OH&S qualifications.
- Minimum of 5 years in a WHS role.
- Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of risk management.
- Experience in safety improvement program development and implementation.
- Excellent communication skills.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in the petrochemical or equivalent safety and risk management industry.
- Familiarity with oil terminal safety, maintenance, and production processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Independent working capability with minimal supervision.
