About Us
Serco has a dedicated team of over 600 people supporting operations at Fiona Stanley Hospital and works in close partnership with the hospital leadership, WA Health, clinicians, and staff to deliver essential non-clinical facilities management, ICT and HR managed services. Our specialist team designs, manages and optimises the integrated services and are critical to the ongoing delivery of clinical services in Western Australia's largest and most digitally enabled public healthcare facility.
About the Role
The Work, Health, and Safety (WHS) Specialist at Fiona Stanley Hospital is pivotal in promoting and ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. You’ll provide high-quality consultancy advice, supporting injury prevention programs, manage Workers’ Compensation claims, and contribute to the overall safety culture within the hospital. This role supports the WHS and Wellbeing team, driving key performance indicators and fostering continuous improvements in safety practices.
You will need to be on-site 4 days per week.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing professional WHS advice, coaching the workforce to improve safety culture
- Promoting and ensuring a safe work environment within legislative requirements
- Communicating and consulting on health and safety issues, providing timely advice
- Assisting with incident reporting, data entry, and ergonomic assessments
- Supporting WHS team in meeting reporting, inspection, and audit compliance requirements
- Conducting incident investigations, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions
- Mentoring and supporting WHS and Wellbeing team members
- Undertaking WHS projects and contributing to innovation and continuous improvement
About You
You are a proactive and dedicated WHS professional with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently. Your passion for safety and wellbeing, combined with your experience and knowledge, enables you to influence and drive a positive safety culture. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are committed to continuous improvement.
Your ideal skills & experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of WHS legislation
- Diploma qualified in Work Health and Safety with over 4 years of experience in a similar role
- Root cause investigation training (TapRoot/ICAM)
- Experience in conducting audits
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team with limited supervision
- Up-to-date COVID-19, Varicella, MMR, and Pertussis vaccinations
