NHVR has an exciting and new opportunity for a seasoned WHS Business Partner to join our team. As a newly established position due to a transition of a workforce from Transport and Main Roads, you will play a pivotal role in providing WHS direction and alignment of safety practices and risk control across the Northern Queensland region. Holding the national remit of the WHS Training Lead, this role will also be responsible for leading the training and development approach to WHS across the whole NHVR, building WHS understanding and capability across all levels.
This role will be responsible for
- Developing a training strategy for NHVR leaders (organisational wide) on all aspects of WHS Legislation, obligations of PCBU’s, just culture and management of risks.
- Engaging with providers and coordinate or cofacilitate the execution of the safety training strategy
- Reviewing, maintaining and developing safety content for NHVR’s e-learning system (Litmos)
- Partnering closely with leaders to improve their knowledge, application and management of critical risks and assist in the development and delivery of safety communication and education to employees and leaders.
- Proactively engaging with leaders and employees in changing safety mindsets, habits and behaviours to improve NHVR culture.
- Conducting and/or guiding risk assessments and the development and maintenance of appropriate risk registers for business units.
This is a permanent full-time role, based in one of our Northern QLD offices in Townsville, Mackay, Cairns or Rockhampton. Inter/intra state travel will be a requirement of the role. About You
We are seeking a strong communicator, someone who is passionate about getting a message across and is willing to jump in to execute the wide range of tasks and duties that come alongside such a busy and large scale transformation. You will have
- 8 – 10 years experience in a WHS training role
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and lead initiatives and manage projects effectively and with competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to consult with internal and external stakeholders on Health and Safety programs of work.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct safety investigations and address root causes and latent factors.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills
- Comprehensive understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
Tertiary qualifications in health and safety and a Cert IV in training and assessment is highly desirable as is experience undertaking investigations using ICAM methodology.
