About your new role
The Work Health and Safety Advisor reports to the Managing Director and is responsible for the development of a positive and compliant safety culture across Sylvia P Sportswear. We have three manufacturing facilities in Capalaba with office spaces onsite.
You will lead the transformation of our Health and Safety management system, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and best practices. You will be a key resource to support workers and leaders in all Health and Safety matters.
- Collaborate with workers and leaders to develop, implement, and improve Health and Safety systems, procedures, policies and manuals
- Develop and advocate for a positive safety culture, encouraging and ensuring worker compliance, engagement and participation
- Ensure all incidents, accidents, and near misses are reported and investigated, analysing causes to prevent future incidents
- Hazard and risk management
- WorkCover claims management
- Ensuring accurate and timely reporting of WHS data
- Consulting with workers and leaders on Health and Safety matters
- Coordination of safety compliance, training, and work-based competency for Sylvia P team members
- Maintain emergency procedures and requirements, including fire safety and emergency drills
- Maintain knowledge of latest WHS regulations and best practices, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements
- Develop, implement and lead Sylvia P’s safety committee
What will you bring?
- Qualification in workplace Health and Safety
- Proven experience within a similar Health and Safety role
- Experience developing and implementing systems, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and build a positive safety culture
- Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety laws and best practices
- Fire Safety Advisor Qualification
- First Aid & CPR training desirable or willing to complete
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with employees at all level
- Have the ability to drive real change at Sylvia P and lead exciting projects
