How you will make an impact
In this newly created position as the Work Health and Safety Management System Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring Cabrini operates its facilities and services in a safe and compliant manner. This role will form part of a broader team of WHS Consultants who provide support and advice to managers to build their capability to proactively identify, assess and control risks.
Reporting to the Manager, Work Health and Safety, the Work Health and Safety Managements System (WHSMS) Specialist will be responsible for providing systems management and reporting services across Cabrini Health for the effective implementation and continuous improvement of a high functioning Work Health and Safety Management system aligned to AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting WHS audits, investigations and inspections of the WHSMS to ensure ongoing compliance with the applicable act and regulations and any other applicable safety standards
- Contributing to the development, implementation and review of the Cabrini WHSMS as well as implementing Cabrini Health's WHS plan
- Proactively identifying workplace hazards and suitable controls throughout the hospitals, healthcare facilities, and non-clinical sites for implementation in consultation with relevant managers and staff
- Developing, coaching and mentoring managers and staff in the area of WHS using positive reinforcement
- Providing timely and effective WHS support and/or advice to Cabrini managers and staff
- Facilitating WHS learning and contributing to the development and continuous improvement of WHS practices within Cabrini
About you
Crucial to your success in this role will be in your ability to effectively identify risks across the organisation and build capability amongst Cabrini's leadership team to implement suitable controls.
You will also have the following:
- Undergraduate or post graduate degree in Work Health and Safety
- Lead Auditor qualifications
- At least 5 years' demonstrable experience with WHSMS in a large complex, structured organisation
- Healthcare industry experience is desirable
- Well developed communication and influencing skills focussing on positive reinforcement
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of WHSMS and the Workplace Health & Safety Act 2004, associated regulations and Codes of Practice specific to jurisdictions where Cabrini Health operates
- Good knowledge of AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
