The Mindarie Regional Council (MRC) is one of Western Australia’s largest waste management authorities assisting its member councils, mainly situated in Perth’s northern corridor, in managing their municipal solid waste.
This position is full time, working hours 76 per fortnight, salary range $94k to $105k per annum, plus other benefits of the employee industrial agreement.

Requirement of the position
The WHS Officer will provide the MRC with a safe working environment by supporting all staff through developing, implementing and maintaining effective Safety Management Systems and promoting a positive safety culture. Additionally, this position will support and facilitate incident investigations, provide technical advice or escalate safety concerns, review and update relevant policies and procedures in line with legislation changes, as part of continuous improvements that supports WHS objectives.
To be successful in the position you will need to demonstrate
- Tertiary qualifications or at least 5 years demonstrated experience in Work Health and Safety or related field.
- Experience in a blue-collar and high-risk industry environment.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to communicate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Extensive working knowledge of Work Health and Safety and the ability to interpret legislation, policies, procedures and industry standards.
- Sound investigative, analytical and report writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high level WHS advice across all levels of the business.
- Experience leading and promoting a safety culture in a diverse environment.
- Experience investigating workplace incidents and reporting in line with MRC policies and procedures, and WHS legislation.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake medical examinations and drug screening prior to employment and would undergo a six-month probationary period.
