Southern Premium Vineyards (SPV) is one of Australia’s leading vineyard management groups with both owned and managed vineyards located across a diverse range of winegrowing regions such as the Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley and Limestone Coast regions and the Riverina and Sunraysia.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
At SPV, safety is our priority. This position will play a key role in ensuring our workforce has a strong safety culture and proactive safety practices.
Based in Griffith and working across our owned and managed vineyards in this region, which span ~3500 hectares, the WHS Advisor will provide effective and efficient WHS support to the business.
We are looking for someone with a continuous improvement focus and strong evaluation skills, with the ability to communicate and partner with the business operations. This successful candidate will be a key member of the interstate Safety Team and will report to the General Manager, WHS.
ABOUT THE JOB:
The WHS Advisor will be responsible for:
- Actively maintaining and improving the Safety Management Systems
- Educating the vineyard managers and their teams in risk and workplace safety to continue to develop a safety focused culture
- Deliver WHS training sessions as required
- Ensuring proper reporting processes are being utilised by the workforce
- Maintaining and reviewing the risk register and risk assessments
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
- Assist in the identification and investigation of any hazards or incidents within the workplace
- Develop and implement incident prevention strategies
- Develop Safety Alerts to distribute across the wider business
- Prepare data reports for Safety Committee meetings and as required
- Manage workplace injury claims and return to work plans
ABOUT YOU:
You are a practitioner who understands the criticality of a highly functioning and effective Safety Management System, the importance of driving change through culture and behaviour, and have the demonstrated ability to bring the two together.
You have relevant qualifications in Health, Safety or Quality related disciplines, hold a relevant auditing qualification, the ICAM lead investigator certification or equivalent, and competent in maintaining an accredited Safety Management System software. You may have relevant industry experience, but if not, you have a keen interest in agriculture/viticulture
