Your new role
Reporting to the onsite Project Manager, you will be responsible for providing daily support in Work, Health, Safety and Environmental activities as per project requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Project stakeholder liaison, including meetings and inspections with relevant clients and local community representatives where required
- Coordinating Daily prestart's and weekly toolboxes
- Preparing and submitting Internal and external project monthly reports to relevant stakeholders and clients including organizing injury records and safety statistics,
- Assisting with facilitation of continuous improvement processes in relation to Safety & Environmental Systems to ensure consistency of and their documentation on projects.
- Conducting systems audits on the project to ensure documentation and specifications are been adhered to specifically Sydney water and TFNSW requirements.
- Carrying out weekly Health, Safety and Environmental inspections and monthly audits highlighting risks and hazards on site.
- Safety & Environmental Permit Surveillance, including clearing and grubbing, dewatering, hot works, excavations and working at heights.
- Liaising with client surveillance officer on a daily basis to ensure client and contractor relationship is stable and secure.
- The review and amendments of vehicle management plans, traffic control plans, traffic risk assessments.
- The review and amendments of the sub contractor’s relevant method statements, risk assessments and health and safety policy
- Undertake audits and surveillance reviews of work locations and/or processes & reviews to ensure client compliance with OHS Management System/Policy, legislative, compliance and accreditation requirements and drive completion of resulting actions as required and identified.
- Lead organizational initiatives which support reduction in workplace incidents and deliver positive return to work outcomes.
- Carry out incident and injury investigations as required on the project.
- Consult, advise, guide and clients on a broad range of occupational health and safety & system matters.
- Demonstrate personal responsibility for all WHS policies, procedures, and initiatives
- Support diversity and inclusion, positive employee relations, and teamwork
- Project Onboarding and subcontractor liaisons.
To be successful in this opportunity, you will have:
- Must have at least 3 Years experience in Civil Construction Industry and comfortable working in own environment.
- Excellent client and contractor interaction skills and ability to adapt different industry's.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Word, Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, as well as data management systems.
- Must have strong knowledge and experience in the review and creation of SWMS & EWMS.
- Experience with working with hazards & risks around Plant and Machinery, ground operations, lifting operations.
- A Enthusiastic approach to WHS and have a keen willingness to support project team and ground staff where required.
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or equivalent preferred, but not essential.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communications and presentation skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and achieve agreed timelines
