The Workforce Coordinator is responsible for availability management and allocation of operational staff to optimise staffing levels, minimise labour costs, and ensure operational efficiency through collaboration with various departments and leaders to understand their workforce needs. Additionally, you will be instrumental in educating other areas within the business on best practices for effective workforce planning.
Key Accountabilities
- Administer staff/roster movements and the allocation of labour, whilst adhering to all with employment terms (EA's), OH&S and Environmental legislation and company policies.
- In consultation with the operations management team, review incidents of poor employee performance or policy breeches and implement the appropriate actions, with consideration of individual employment terms and conditions such as dispute resolution procedures and other industrial instruments.
- Act as primary contact for staff queries relating to published rosters.
- Updating systems to reflect accurate staff allocation and shifts.
- Provide regular and consistent feedback on all allocation processes highlighting any opportunities to the National Workforce Planning Team.
- Maintain an understanding of EA's and Industrial Relations requirements and ensure that they are applied correctly (including payroll compliance).
- Reporting on requirements for development of systems and process improvements.
- Ensuring systems' data entry and integrity and providing input into creating effective rosters.
- Delivery of a high level of customer service to internal/external customers.
To be successful in the role you will ideally have a background the transport, maritime or stevedoring industries with strong leadership qualities and rostering experience. The preferred candidate will possess a skill set that includes:
- Previous experience in workforce planning or rostering environments.
- Outstanding planning and organisational aptitude, prioritising tasks to meet objectives, KPIs, and timelines.
- Proficiency in data-driven decision-making with robust analytical skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills for addressing workforce challenges and proposing creative solutions.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with an ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant industrial agreements, particularly around the varied working conditions.
- Self-motivated, with a can-do attitude and the ability to adapt to the changing needs and priorities of a fast-paced business.
- Strong level of computer literacy skills.
