Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services LTD (KAMS) is a well-established regional Aboriginal community controlled health service, founded in 1986, which provides centralised advocacy and resource support for 6 independent member services, as well as providing direct clinical services in a further 6 remote Aboriginal communities across the region.
KAMS has successfully delivered high-quality, accessible comprehensive primary health care services over its 30 years of operation and has provided innovation and national leadership in areas such as health information management and evidence-based best practice in primary health care.
The Kimberley region is located in the northern part of Western Australia and covers about 421,000 square kilometres. The Kimberley has only three towns with a population of more than 2,000 (Broome, Derby and Kununurra), and the total population is around 37,000. In addition to the sealed Route 1 which runs along the southern part of the area, the unsealed Gibb River Road runs through the heart of the region from Derby to the highway near Kununurra. Access to much of the region is by dirt road, air or sea.
About the OpportunityKAMS now has an opportunity for a Workforce and Training Coordinator to join our friendly team in Broome WA, on a full time fixed term basis until 2026. In this role, the Workforce and Training Coordinator will support the Elder Care Support program (ECS) workforce with all workforce and training needs. After undertaking a train, the trainer program, the WTC will deliver a suite of non-accredited training to the local workforce and other participants as required. They will provide advocacy support to ensure workforce and clients participating in the aged care sector receive culturally safe care and conditions.
Some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Undertake and complete the non-accredited training program, including the train the trainer program;
- Ensure all training and onboarding materials are customised for Kimberley context and kept up to date, to meet the workforce needs;
- Collaborate and work with the other KAMS Workforce Coordinators to support all Kimberley workforce initiatives and maximise pathway opportunities – map solid connections to the program;
- Provide advocacy for workforce and clients participating in the aged care system;
- Develop and deliver a communications package (program identity) for the program
- Building knowledge and relationships with local services and mainstream organisations workforce can utilise
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate experience in developing, delivering/ facilitating training and understanding of adult learning/teaching methodologies.
Please note: It is a requirement that successful candidates hold a current drivers licence and be willing to undergo a National Police Check prior to employment with KAMS.
