This position is to ensure the effective scheduling and control of works crews and contractors including monitoring of costs in order to ensure efficient day to day delivery of programmed and ad hoc construction, maintenance and civil works services to meet Council’s objectives and requirements.
Complete construction and maintenance projects and programs for local roads and bridges, Council owned roads and streets and other contracted road construction and maintenance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure crews and plant are effectively allocated to work programs, according to plan, developing contingency plans to handle absence and change.
- Supervise Team Leaders, Plant Operators, Construction/Maintenance crews/workers providing direction, support, conflict resolution, guidance and on the job training.
- Ensure Council’s WHS policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff under their supervision.
- Ensure quality control, customer service and public relations associated with engineering works are delivered effectively.

We are currently looking for Water & Sewer Coordinator in Cootamundra.
This position is to lead the internal water and sewer functions of Council ensuring that construction, operation, maintenance to water supply and sewerage infrastructure is performed effectively and efficiently. To deliver quality water supply and sewerage systems, in accordance with environmental and health standards, and State legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership and direction to the Water and Sewerage team to ensure the:
1.1 safe operation, monitoring, quality, maintenance, monitoring improvement and/or development and construction of infrastructure, systems and processes,
- timely delivery of Water and Sewerage services to the Cootamundra delivery area within regulatory requirements.

- Ensuring works carried out are compliant with specifications and plans including undertaking Dial Before You Digs (DBYDs) for all excavations.
- Complete annual returns, works and other reports as required regarding work completed, project expenditure and status, budgets, QA, WHS, contractor and environmental compliance.
- Assist with the development of Works Proposal submissions for upcoming/proposed works on all assets when required including liaison with engineering staff to determine project scope and work scheduling.
- Ensure that water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure construction, maintenance, materials, components and methods meet Council and all other relevant legislative requirements.
- Provide administrative, data extraction and informational assistance to facilitate water, sewer and stormwater projects, maintenance and compliance requirements, including compliance with EPA requirements.
- Manage the timely and professional response to customer questions and complaints via Council’s Customer Actions system, and act as an escalation point as and when required.
- Ensure water and sewer employees adhere to operational and safety standards including compliance with relevant confined spaces legislation.
- Ensure that the efficient operation of the Sewage Treatment Plant, pump stations and effluent re-use systems and effective operation of sewer reticulation for the Cootamundra delivery area.
- Oversee the metering of raw water, treated water and reticulated water quality is maintained and complies with Australian drinking water quality guidelines.
- Provide input into the development of strategic plans for water, sewer and stormwater.
- Contribute to maintenance of Council’s Asset Database and undertake asset inspections of water, sewer& storm water assets.
- Co-ordinate work team to be available to respond to customer service requests.
- Review timesheets and applications for leave, and action them appropriately.

CEMETERIES ATTENDANT/RANGER – GUNDAGAI –Permanent Full Time
Applications are invited from interested persons for the above permanent full-time position of Cemeteries Attendant/Ranger– Full Time, based at our Gundagai Depot.
This position assists in the excavation and preparation of gravesites for burial at Council Cemeteries. Provides grounds’ keeping, repairs and maintenance and cleaning services at the Council cemeteries and other designated public areas. Supports and relieves the Ranger to attend to compliance matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensures a high level of presentation of surroundings for mourners and visitors at Council cemeteries.
- Ensures graveside areas are prepared in co-operation with funeral directors in a timely and sensitive manner.
- Routinely clean Council’s public amenities to a high standard to provide hygienic facilities for the general public.
