Are you a skilled and experienced Technician ready to transition into a leadership position? Reporting to the Manager Plant, Fleet and Buildings, as the Workshop Facility Manager you will play an essential role in leading and guiding our team of Workshop Mechanics and Apprentices. The role is focused on providing quality customer service to stakeholders whilst simultaneously overseeing and managing workshop operations.
This position will have a strong focus on Workshop safety in all facets and ensuring the highest standard quality workmanship and effective supervision and leadership. Key responsibilities: Lead, engage and develop the Workshop team, ensuring effective personnel management, in order to achieve the best organisational and community outcomes in relation to service delivery. Ensure appropriate processes, systems, procedures and works schedules are in place and communicated to run a successful workshop. Manage job allocation and job flows for all workshop activities to ensure effective scheduling and resource management along with cost and delivery targets.
Support the Sector Manager by providing advice and reports (e.g. facility business plan, projected works schedules, budget forecasting, resourcing requirements, and performance) in a timely manner. Implement, monitor and review the workshop budget, facility business plan, works schedules and performance. Ensure a rigorous approach to the expenditure and management of public funds in carrying out all activities on behalf of Council.
Oversee and assist with repairs and maintenance to Council vehicles, plant and equipment. Manage the out-of-hours call out roster and fill in as required. Build and maintain positive working relationships with all key stakeholders.
What you will need to succeed: We are looking for someone with: Tertiary qualifications relevant to the role e.g. Finance and/or business management. Mechanical trade qualification. Class C Driver’s Licence.
