It’s all about … the Job!
Driven by major ventures on behalf of Naval Defence and Commercial Shipping Fleets, they require a Workshop Technician who has a strong technical aptitude across mechanics or plumbing or electrical systems and/or someone who is just technically minded and enjoys taking apart and fixing. Conducting technical investigations, diagnostics across new and existing equipment installations, completion of technical documents, managing workflow overhauls and servicing projects, researching and coordinating with suppliers across parts and specifications for supply and factoring in lead times will all form part of the day to day activities.
It will require you to be organised, efficient and process driven with an ability to work autonomously to achieve results. Strong communication skills both written and verbal may come naturally or from your previous technical and/or tradesman experience, your attention to detail is understandably paramount as you ensure all processes and procedures are worked through methodically and quality controls are kept to a very high standard.
It’s all about … you!
Your ability to provide quality outcomes in a busy, fast paced environment will be tested as will your flexibility and patience to navigate your way through slow lead times to get projects started and finished. Your willingness to run with your own operation and be self-sufficient, but you’ll have an existing team to support you when times get interesting. Never a dull moment, you’ll stay motivated and engaged in the varying workloads, both on and off site working, with a high volume of administration to keep you on your toes.
Ideally, but not essential, you will have a trade background, or maybe never quite finished your plumbing/electrical apprenticeship but will have a keen interest on how mechanics work. Either way, if you have a strong work ethic and organisational skills, you’ll go far here and enjoy watching the fruits of your labour sailing safely into the sunset!
