About the Role
Are you passionate about early diversion and prevention programs? Can you support young people between 12 and 17 in a residential setting that aims to repair and reunify them with their families? Do you want to be part of a new model that does something different to address youth homelessness?
As a Youth and Family Worker, you will be an integral part of a collaborative team to deliver Ruby’s Reunification Program. Your role will involve engaging with young people and their families, using a therapeutic, strengths-based approach in a caring and supportive environment.

This is a permanent, part-time position based at our Armadale location. It offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people and their families.
As a Youth and Family Worker, your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Engage with young people and Family members in line with the Ruby’s Principles,
- Theories & Key Practices, ensuring a constructive environment where positive change can be facilitated.
- Support and guide all young people while on shift.
- Develop and facilitate activities for young people that will enhance their living
- skills and help them achieve their goals
- Maintain contact with young people’s parents/carers
Act as Key Worker with assigned young people by:
- Working with Young People, the Counsellor and Coordinator to determine
- their goals;
- Advocating for young people, as required;
- Conducting weekly casework sessions;
- Maintaining regular contact with their parents;
- Organise celebrations, positive records, and marking rites of passage for
- young people as per the Ruby’s Service Model
To be successful in this role, the applicant will have:
Role Specific Qualifications:
- Certificate IV in Youth Work or the equivalent
Mandatory Compliance:
- A Valid WA Drivers License
- Working With Children Card or be willing to apply for one
- Department of Communities Check
- National Police Clearance
- Proof of Working Rights
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Experience working with young people who have complex trauma
- Experience dealing with conflict and crisis
- Experience working from a strengths-based approac
- A current Provide First Aid Certificate (St Johns Ambulance or approved equivalent) must be obtained before commencing employment.
