About the Role

Are you passionate about early diversion and prevention programs? Can you support young people between 12 and 17 in a residential setting that aims to repair and reunify them with their families? Do you want to be part of a new model that does something different to address youth homelessness?

As a Youth and Family Worker, you will be an integral part of a collaborative team to deliver Ruby’s Reunification Program. Your role will involve engaging with young people and their families, using a therapeutic, strengths-based approach in a caring and supportive environment.

This is a permanent, part-time position based at our Armadale location. It offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people and their families.

As a Youth and Family Worker, your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Engage with young people and Family members in line with the Ruby’s Principles,
  • Theories & Key Practices, ensuring a constructive environment where positive change can be facilitated.
  • Support and guide all young people while on shift.
  • Develop and facilitate activities for young people that will enhance their living
  • skills and help them achieve their goals
  • Maintain contact with young people’s parents/carers

Act as Key Worker with assigned young people by:

  • Working with Young People, the Counsellor and Coordinator to determine
  • their goals;
  • Advocating for young people, as required;
  • Conducting weekly casework sessions;
  • Maintaining regular contact with their parents;
  • Organise celebrations, positive records, and marking rites of passage for
  • young people as per the Ruby’s Service Model

To be successful in this role, the applicant will have:

Role Specific Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Youth Work or the equivalent

Mandatory Compliance:

  • A Valid WA Drivers License
  • Working With Children Card or be willing to apply for one
  • Department of Communities Check
  • National Police Clearance
  • Proof of Working Rights

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working with young people who have complex trauma
  • Experience dealing with conflict and crisis
  • Experience working from a strengths-based approac
  • A current Provide First Aid Certificate (St Johns Ambulance or approved equivalent) must be obtained before commencing employment.

Parkerville Children and Youth Care are uniquely positioned to provide the successful applicant with the following benefits.

  • SCHADS Schedule C Paypoint and Level 1.1 - 1.4 - $36.00 - $38.60 per hour
