Youth Counsellor- contract position- Mandurah location!
We are seeking a Youth Counsellor on a contract basis until December 2024 to join a leading provider in youth mental health support services with possibility to extend thereafter. The organization prides itself on supporting young people aged 12-25, supporting them to thrive in their community.
Responsibilities are including but not limited to:
Provide counselling support to young people and their families showing early signs associated with suicide, depression and/or self harm
Facilitate individual and group counselling services via outreach and telehealth to young people and their families
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
Maintain thorough knowledge of mental health resources for youths and work in partnership with these services
Travel to affiliated centres on occasion for counselling within the company framework
Essential requirements:
Tertiary level qualifications in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, clinical counselling or mental health nursing
Relevant professional registration with AHPRA / AASW / ACA
At least 3 years' experience working with young people at risk of suicide, depression and self-harm
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in conducting risk assessments, including assessment of suicide risk
Experience in developing safety plans, follow-up support and referral for treatment
C class driving license and access to a reliable vehicle
