About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Parkerville Children and Youth Services as a Senior Children’s counsellor in our Child Sexual Abuse Therapeutic Services based in Northam.
The Senior ChildFamily and Community counsellor's primary responsibility is to provide therapeutic interventions for children, young people, and their families who have experienced trauma from Child Sexual Abuse. This role also supervises and provides clinical oversight and development to the Child, Family and Community counsellor based in the region.
This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis.
Duties
- Provide therapeutic interventions for children, young people and their families impacted by child sexual abuse.
- Deliver psycho-education group programs on topics related to developing an understanding of the impact of child sexual abuse and raising community awareness by delivering educational seminars.
- Build collaborative partnerships and networks with key stakeholders within the Northam Community
To be successful in this role, the applicant will be able to demonstrate:
- Hold a 4-year undergraduate degree in psychology, social work or counselling
- Understanding of counselling interventions as they apply to working with children, young people and their families impacted by child sexual abuse
- Experience of working within therapeutic models of practice that build resilience and protective behaviours using a whole-of-family approach
- Demonstrated applied knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders and service-specific stakeholders.
