The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.
Staying Deadly Youth Mental Health Hub is a safe and supportive place for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. Supporting young Mob with Mental Health, physical health and wellbeing services, alcohol and drug services, and links to training, education and employment support.
As a one-stop shop, the service will provide holistic support based on each young person’s individual goals, with an integrated team and through a broader system of care within a network of community controlled services across the region.
About the Role?
Responsible for leading the delivery of culturally appropriate early intervention Mental Health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people (12-25 years), within a culturally safe holistic approach to health and wellbeing based on their goals. This will include delivery of, and supported connection with, mental and physical health (including sexual health) and wellbeing services, alcohol and drug services, and links to training, education and employment support. Supporting a team environment that values recovery oriented Mental Health care within the IUIH system of Care.
Day to Day Duties may Include:
- Work collaboratively as a clinical leader of a multidisciplinary team, to facilitate the delivery of a responsive, integrated, and culturally driven Mental Health service to clients.
- Contemporary specialist knowledge, experience and clinical skills in comprehensive Mental Health and recovery-oriented suicide prevention frameworks/ assessment, clinical formulation and decision making. ·
- Lead the provision and review of effective quality recovery oriented Mental Health care practices. ·
- Maintain and develop appropriate referral pathways and stakeholder relationships. ·
- Utilise high level communication and interpersonal skills to achieve optimal client and service delivery outcomes, in addition to engaging clients and family in their care delivery. ·
- Uphold client confidentiality, ensuring their right to privacy with information only being shared where consents are provided. ·
- Undertake reporting activities together with other relevant documentation within the scope of your role. ·
- Maintain the information flow that supports reliable data and documentation in your area of responsibility. ·
- Participate in business planning processes and policy and procedure formulation and improvement within your area of responsibility. ·
- Demonstrated ability to work with vulnerable client groups, including an understanding of the holistic needs of the client, their family, and their community.
About You?
- Minimum five years’ relevant clinical experience
- Minimum three years’ relevant leadership experience
- Current Blue Card
- Relevant AHPRA Registration
- Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)
Desirable, but not mandatory:
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
