About Us
Yawoorroong Miriuwung Gajerrong Yirrgeb Noong Dawang Aboriginal Corporation (MG Corporation) was established in 2006 to receive and manage the benefits transferred under the OFA to the MG People, who are recognised under Australian law as holding Native Title over large areas in the North of Western Australia’s east Kimberley region.
The Role
MG Corporation is seeking to employ a Target 120 Youth Support Worker.
Target 120 aims to address underlying issues that lead to offending, such as substance abuse, family and parenting issues, unstable housing, poor educational attendance, negative peer relations, domestic violence, and mental health issues. This is achieved through coordinated case management of all services, including across government and the non-government sector.
Target 120 Youth Support Worker works with Aboriginal young people and their families to increase safety and wellbeing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and build relationships with young people and their families to increase their safety and wellbeing.
- Provide support and advice to assist in increasing safety and wellbeing for young people and their families.
- Build relationships with young people and their families to promote stability in the home and assist in providing supports and services that increase safety and wellbeing.
- Provide support, advice and services to young people and families that assist to create a safe family environment
- Support young people and families to engage with key services that increase their safety and family functioning.
- Assist young people to access appropriate support services or engage in recreational activities.
- Work with young people to provide role modelling and mentoring opportunities that positively influence their behaviour and choices.
- Support the development of Individual Support Plans by working with young people to identify the skills and supports they need.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key youth service agencies to identify and enable an effective response to young people at risk.
- Participate in strategies to increase the safety of young people in the community.
- Maintain electronic client records and case management data.
- Participate in emergency management and response duties as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and family structures.
- Demonstrated case management skills and knowledge.
- Understanding of contemporary issues and trends in the area of youth offending.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability in working with at risk young people and families to increase their safety and wellbeing.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Current National Police History Check and Working with Children Check, or the ability to obtain.
- Possession of a current Western Australian 'C' Class Driver’s Licence, and the ability to travel in response to organisational needs.
- Able to travel to remote regional locations, including by light aircraft, and to stay overnight or for short periods.

Location and conditions
This is a full time, Kununurra based role offering a generous salary package. Base salary, superannuation, salary packaging and allowances.
