About the role
This position will provide support to resident clients in the Ebenezer Youth Accommodation Support Service.
The aim of the service is to support clients to increase their knowledge of the impacts of Alcohol and drugs, develop emotional management and coping skills, and build confidence to address relationship and drug and alcohol issues.
The role is based in our crisis accommodation facility in Girrawheen, providing services to our 3 hostels and Other EAC services.
About you
To be successful you will need to clearly demonstrate knowledge and practice of AOD informed processes. This includes:
- Two to three years’ experience working with young people;
- The ability to develop and deliver a safe and Supportive AOD Education and Support Program
- Certificate III or IV in a relevant field such as AOD, mental health, community services or youth work
- sound knowledge of AOD, including harm reduction, withdrawal and an understanding of evidence-based and informed AOD strategies and approaches;
- experience working in a crisis setting or working with complex and high-risk individuals;
- knowledge of trauma informed practices;
- knowledge of local AOD support needs and issues; and
- knowledge of co-occurring mental health conditions.
- knowledge of Child Safe principles and practice.
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, although highly desirable but not a minimum requirement, such as social work, psychology, social science, counselling or addiction studies.
You will also need:
- Current National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, First Aid Certificate, Triple Covid Vaccination Certificate and Driver’s licence.
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal Culture and ability to work with Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- Excellent demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work within a small team
- Sound computer literacy skills, along with sound administrative and report writing skills and ability to document case notes
