Darling Downs South West Region has an exciting opportunity of a Youth Transition Officer to work in our Education Justice Team within the Student Child and Family Connect portfolio. The Education Justice team supports at risk young people linked with Youth Justice across the Darling Downs South West Region, appearing in Children's Court, making submissions to the Magistrate, assessing young people's education needs and supporting their reintegration into an appropriate education or employment pathway.

About the Role
As Youth Transition Officer, your role responsibilities include:
- Assist Court Liaison Officers in supporting young people in the youth justice system to engage, or reengage, with education and training.
- Provide support to young people and their families to ensure they are well informed of their available options relating to viable education and training pathways.
- Work with and support the needs of vulnerable young people from diverse and complex backgrounds, including First Nations young persons, young persons with disability and young persons in care.
- Support schools to interpret and enact departmental policies, practices and procedures relating to vulnerable young people to ensure they remain engaged in education.
