About the role

In this role, you will provide direct care and mentoring to enhance the lives of children and/or young people connected to our Family Based Care services within the Muswellbrook Region.

To be successful in this role, you must be someone who offers energy, safety and commitment in their work through genuine, caring and sensitive engagement with our children and young people.

These roles are offered on a casual basis and will require flexibility to work across a range of shifts including morning, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work within a team to deliver quality services for children and young people
  2. Mentoring and actively engaging and supporting the young people to meet their plans and goals.
  3. Promote and support young people to develop independent living skills.
  4. Transportation for children and young people to appointments or to and from school
  5. Facilitating contact visits for children and young people with their families
  6. Assist In the development of  individual, therapeutic, recreational, or skills-development activities that are consistent with and supportive of the care plans developed for each child.
  7. Provide shift reports and feedback on young person’s progress towards goals and plans.

Skills & Experience

  1. Either hold and maintain; or be actively working towards a Certificate IV in Child, Youth, and Family Intervention, or similar.
  2. Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) and Provide CPR (HLTAID009) certificate/s
  3. Current drivers licence and fully insured vehicle.
  4. A strong understanding of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Trauma Informed Practice.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills

Commitment to improving the quality of life, skills and independence of children and young people Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and a Working with Children Check.

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.
