An expansion in service delivery has created exciting opportunities in all areas for experienced midwives to join the team of their choosing. Several roles are available including Pregnancy Enhancement Program; Midcall Midwife; and Caseload Midwife. All roles require candidates to provide advanced midwifery care, have clinical leadership abilities, and be a role model for the wider team.

About the roles

Under limited direction of the Clinical Midwifery Manager, you will perform the Level 2 Registered Midwife role. You will:

• Demonstrate clinical leadership and expertise in midwifery-led continuity of care
• Co-ordinate and provide advanced midwifery-led continuity of care in accordance with Canberra Health Services Policies and Procedures, National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and Referral and relevant legislation
• Provide comprehensive care involving appropriate consultation, referral, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team approach. This includes providing a supportive educational environment to enable women and their families to make informed choices about their care
• Promote midwives within the multidisciplinary team as valuable experts contributing to positive outcomes for women and their families and promote an environment that encourages both individual and team development
• In consultation with the Clinical Midwifery Manager, demonstrate responsibility for human and material resources to facilitate the delivery of a safe standard of care for all consumers
• Demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional development by maintaining competence in mandatory education and skills development for self and others and leading and participating in continuing education, reflective practice and supervision of new clinical staff
• Participate in the development and review of policy, procedures, quality activities, risk management and clinical meetings to build an environment of excellence in midwifery care
• Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

About you

Applicants must meet the necessary criteria outlined below for this position:

• Relevant midwifery and/or nursing qualifications and a minimum of four year’s experience working professionally in midwifery
• Be registered or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Extensive experience as a Registered Midwife across the full scope of practice
• Strong computer literacy skills
• Hold a current driver’s licence
• Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role
