About us

The core mission of Anglicare (NSW South, West & ACT) is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for children, young people, and families. We have a particular focus on serving vulnerable communities in the ACT and regional, rural NSW.

About role:

You will work with a supportive and friendly team that is passionate about working with children, young people, and their families. One of the ways that we support children, young people, and families is through the ACT Youth and Family Services' Young Carer Program, known as CYCLOPS.

As a Youth Worker, you will work in group settings to support and mentor young people who support a family member with a disability, long-term illness, mental health, and/or drug and alcohol concerns.

As a motivated team member, you will assist young people and families with complex needs who may have experienced trauma that impacts their mental health and well-being.You will support Young Carers in accessing case management supports within the program, promoting education and independent living, teaching life skills, assisting them in working towards their goals, and helping them integrate into the community.

About you:

The successful applicant will need to have:

A minimum Certificate IV in Community Services or other equivalent and relevant tertiary qualifications;
Experience working with vulnerable young people and their families;
Demonstrated competencies in group work;
Excellent communication skills,
Experience working in culturally inclusive ways with Aboriginal people, families, and communities
