Organisation Overview:

Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative (RAC) is recognised as a leader among Aboriginal community-controlled organisations, maintaining a high profile in the public and private sectors across research, consultancy, policy development, and partnerships. RAC operates in a culturally appropriate, sensitive, community-controlled environment that maintains a holistic approach to service provision and emphasises the importance of family and community.

RAC has been a resource, service provider and enabler of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of the Greater Shepparton region since 1980. RAC is a cooperative working to provide a range of supports and services including:

  • Health and wellbeing
  • Positive aging and disability services
  • Community services
  • Asset and infrastructure services
  • Corporate services

RAC has an annual budget of $19 million and a workforce of approximately 230 people. RAC is a significant employer and economic contributor to the region and plays a high profile leadership role as one of the larger Aboriginal organisations in Australia. RAC is committed to ensuring the Aboriginal people in the Goulburn Valley have certainty of access to community-controlled services.

Role Purpose:

Deliver the Australian Family Partnership Program (AFPP) in a culturally safe manner to families at
home, in collaboration with the Family Partnership Worker.
Conduct semi-structured, evidence-based home visits over 2.5 years, focusing on supporting client
goals, attachment, health promotion, and child development. Utilize tools like EPDS, ASQ, ASQ, Plum,
and HATS for assessment and support.
Facilitate transport and engagement with health checks, immunizations, and MCH appointments.
Additionally, plan promotional events, maintain stakeholder networks, improve pregnancy outcomes,
and help parents develop a vision for their future.

  • Tenure of positions at Rumbalara will be tied to existing contracted funding arrangements

About You
To excel in this position, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
Qualifications and Registrations:
• Bachelor of Nursing
• Current Registration as Registered Nurse with AHPRA
• Desirable: Experience and/or studies towards midwifery, perinatal care, parenting, child health or family
centred practice.
Knowledge and skills:
• Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, values, parenting practices, and family
issues.
• Ability to coordinate with team members and maintain interdisciplinary communication.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal skills for client care management and documentation.
• Willingness to learn and adapt service approaches to meet changing client needs.
• Proficiency in computer skills, especially using client management systems like Communicare.
• Ability to travel for training as required
