The Australian Bureau of Statistics is seeking talented and enthusiastic people with various skills and experience to assist with planning, developing, testing, implementing and delivering Australia’s 19th national Census, 2026 Census of Population and Housing (“the Census”).

About the Area
The Census of Population and Housing is a large and complex exercise and is the most comprehensive snapshot of Australia, telling the story of how we are changing over time.
It takes over 30,000 people to run the Census, with the planning, development, testing, and delivery spanning over seven years.
The 2026 Census program is currently organised into 11 project teams.
As a part of the Census program we are planning to fill a range of positions in the following categories:
- Data – statistical analyst, data scientist, data engineer, data consultant, data and metadata management specialist, data acquisition officer, data analyst and data specialist
- Operations – administration officer, administration manager, customer service officer, customer service manager, policy officer and business support officer
- Communications – communications officer, communications manager, content designer, strategic designer, graphic designer and campaign officer
- Project/Program – project support officer, project management officer, program support officer, program management officer, quality assurance officer and risk management officer
- Human Resources/Administration – work health and safety officer, recruitment officer, payroll officer, administration officer, administration manager, human resources officer and data entry officer.
