About the Role:
As Director of the Capital Markets Unit, you will lead a team responsible for Capital Markets policy development in the Treasury, with a particular focus on financial market infrastructure regulatory frameworks, market integrity, equity and debt markets and securitisation. Working in a collaborative environment, you will use your knowledge and expertise to work with financial regulators and an extensive range of industry stakeholders to develop practical solutions to address current and emerging Capital Markets policy and regulatory issues.
In performing this role, you are expected to be able to:
- Lead and manage a team and deliver timely and high-quality outcomes that influence policy makers and effectively implement the Government’s decisions relating to Capital Markets.
- Provide leadership to guide, mentor, develop and empower staff.
- Prepare and review complex briefs, correspondence, reports and advice for senior management and Ministers.
- Build and maintain collaborative working relationships including with senior management, regulators, advocacy groups and corporations.
- Assess the implications of economic and policy developments and develop cogent insights as a basis for policy advice.
- Manage work programs, projects and tasks, delegating tasks and prioritising workflow in a dynamic environment.
Desirable Qualifications / Experience:
We are seeking applicants with some or all of the following:
- Experience leading teams, with a proactive, innovative and inclusive leadership style.
- Strong strategic thinking with an ability to influence outcomes and drive delivery.
- Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and relationship-management skills.
- Experience in the ability to build productive relationships.
- 7 or more years relevant experience.
- Tertiary qualifications in economics, law, commerce, finance or public policy.
- Experience in one or more of the following will be particularly well-regarded:
- Relevant private sector experience, including financial sector businesses, related law firms and industry associations.
- Government policy development and analysis.
- Legislative development and/or implementation.
- Regulatory experience.
