The Role
The role involves actively contributing to critical issues affecting Australia's future in a specific industry by engaging in negotiations and communication with government agencies, industry bodies, and stakeholders both domestically and internationally.
Key responsibilities include providing specialist advice on relevant topics, conducting research, and developing submissions to support regulatory negotiations. Representing the department in engagements with international partners and Australian industry stakeholders, contributing to high-level advice for senior executives and the Minister, and managing branch communication channels are also crucial aspects of the position. Additionally, addressing establishment non-compliance issues and maintaining a strong understanding of relevant systems are integral. You will:
- Work on topical issues, critical for the future exports of Australian
- Liaise, negotiate and effectively communicate with Australian and overseas government agencies, industry bodies, and other internal and external stakeholders in support of technical market access
- Provide technical or specialist advice and guidance on matters relating to animal health, biosecurity and food safety
- Undertake research and developing technical submissions and briefings in support of technical market access
- Represent the department during engagement with international trading partners and Australian industry
- Contribute to content into high level written and verbal advice to senior executives and the Minister in support of the above activities
To succeed in these roles, you will have the following attributes:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and manage competing tasks effectively
- Knowledge of international food safety and trade regulations and market dynamics
- Capacity to present complex information logically and concisely, especially regarding technical issues and policy proposals
