The Department for Child Protection is seeking an Aboriginal Family Practitioner to join the St Marys office on a full-time term basis.
The role is responsible for:
- Developing and supporting referrals for culturally appropriate interventions that foster strengthening of families and the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and young people.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of a holistic culturally based service that provides specialised and innovative services.
- Monitoring the problem solving and coping capacities of individuals and assisting in ensuring that Aboriginal families are enhanced through the provision of respectful consultation processes.
- Supporting families to connect with community based services which can address their needs.
About You
We are looking for a confident individual with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with people both within government, non-government sector and community to promote positive outcomes for Aboriginal children and families.
To be successful you will have knowledge of child development, counselling, crisis intervention, and working in a statutory environment or community.
You will also have demonstrated experience in problem solving and developing workable solutions.
